Welcome to the Department of Psychological Sciences

As Head of Purdue’s Department of Psychological Sciences, I want to welcome you to our website. We understand that people visit a website for many different reasons, and so we’ve developed pages for different purposes and tried to make the site easy to navigate. There are links for prospective and current undergraduates and for prospective and current graduate students. There are links to key departmental events and awards. There are links to allow interested alumni to keep up with the happenings of the department. There are, of course, links to departmental areas/programs and to individual faculty websites.

All of these pages have one thing in common. They try to tell the story of the innovative and interesting research being conducted by our faculty and students, and of the educational programs we’ve developed to help students learn about the fascinating field of psychology. Psychology, the study of behavior and cognition, is an amazing field. Its issues form the core of what it means to be human. Websites, on the other hand, can be dull, even irritating. We think we have a terrific department, with leaders in this important field of study.

We hope our website helps you see that. We also hope it gives you the information you came looking for while, at the same time, educating you a bit about the science of Psychology.

Professor and Department Head
