Description of research area

My research interests are eating disorders, personality, and psychopathology. Current projects involve examining 1) personality traits that are shared between eating disorder symptoms and other psychopathology symptoms, 2) the structure of eating disorder symptoms through the validation of a new measure of eating pathology, and 3) relationships between eating disorders, mood, and anxiety disorders.


Description of undergraduate participation

  • Research activities will include: collecting data, processing data (coding, data management), and participating in other research tasks.
  • Attend weekly lab meetings, which include discussion of lab business, as well as educational topics (such as tips on preparing for graduate school).
  • Conduct literature searches and assigned readings.
  • Conduct data management (entry, proofing, etc.).
  • Work with Prof. Forbush on manuscript and grant preparation.

This is a great opportunity for students interested in graduate or medical school!

Must have completed PSY 120, completion of PSY 350 is preferred. Prefer individuals with 3.5 GPA (or above). Sophomore standing (by Spring 2012) is preferred, although this is somewhat flexible. Previous research experience in a psychology, health science, biology, or psychiatry laboratory is required for seniors. Students must be attentive to detail and organized.
