The Electronics Shop in the Department of Psychological Sciences was established to provide electronics support to the faculty, staff and graduate students of this department. In the past, shop staff would primarily work on projects relating to the research needs of faculty. As computers became more prevalent, staff in the Electronics Shop were assigned the additional responsibility to support the department's computing needs.
Shop staff are available to install and update software used on networked and non-networked computers throughout the PSYC and PRCE buildings. We are also on hand to help with the setup of computer equipment and diagnosis of problems you might have with office or laboratory computers. As well, the shop team maintains the departmental computer network, called PsychNet. Several server computers, located in PSYC B130, handle departmental e-mail, network file storage, and host our departmental Web site. Please contact someone in the shop if you need help with a network issue or to activate/remove a network connection in your office or lab.
As the technical point of contact for our department, the Electronics Shop is also the place to go with computer usage and purchasing questions. We do our best to keep current with today's fast moving computer issues and can help with most electronics/computing consultation needs.
Purdue's central computing group ITaP offers many services to the Purdue community. Psychological Sciences Electronics Shop staff are here to help you find who to contact for specific needs and how to best connect with them.
Please email the Shop Ticket System at psych-help@psych.purdue.edu to request assistance/help.
