Primary areas of interest are memory and learning. Experimental work tends to emphasize situations in which current behavior is controlled by events that occurred in previous trials, thus implicating memory of prior events.
Serial learning in animals is one such situation. Another is long delay conditioning in which events must be remembered over hours. Of major concern recently has been a third such situation, counting, which appears to be involved in a variety of learning situations and useful for investigating cognitive processes in animals. |
