Dr. Forbush will be accepting graduate students for the 2012-2013 academic year.

The overarching goal of my research is to clarify the reasons for the excessive diagnostic co-occurrence between mental disorders, with an emphasis on eating disorders. My research models the statistical associations between eating disorders and other forms of psychopathology to develop a comprehensive multivariate quantitative model of mental disorders that will be useful in both research and clinical settings. This research integrates quantitative modeling, assessment/measurement methodology, and basic research on personality. Current projects involve examining 1) dispositional factors that are shared between eating disorder symptoms and other psychopathological symptoms to further explicate the Internalizing-Externalizing structure of mental disorders and 2) the internal structure of eating disorder symptoms through the development and validation of a new measure of eating pathology.
