Basic research interests lie in the areas of early environmental influences, infant temperament and nutrition-development relations.

Specific interests are: (1) measurement and impact of environmental noise-confusion (environmental chaos) upon early development and parent-child relations; (2) how individual differences in temperament act to moderate the impact of environmental influences; and (3) processes underlying the relation of undernutrition and trace mineral deficits to individual developmental variablity.
