The Purdue Psychology Treatment and Research Clinics (PPTRC) are a set of specialty clinics designed to deliver state-of-the-art psychological services to the people of the Greater Lafayette community. Our goal is to assist clients by providing quality assessment, treatment, and psychoeducational services using methods shown by research to be the most effective. The Purdue Psychology Treatment and Research Clinics also serve as a training facility for the Clinical Psychology Graduate Training program of Purdue University. Therapists are qualified psychologists-in-training who are supervised by faculty from the Clinical Psychology program. Who comes to the Purdue Psychology Treatment and Research Clinics and Why? Our services are available to children, adolescents, and adults in the Greater Lafayette community who are troubled by a range of difficulties, through the following specialty clinics: What services do the specialty clinics offer? The Anxiety Clinic offers services for children, adolescents, and adults suffering from excessive worries and fears. Treatment includes individual or group therapy for problems such as panic attacks, fear of public places, and discomfort in social settings, as well as other specific fears and general worries that interfere with normal life. What can you expect? Effective treatment requires a detailed assessment to find out the nature and extent of the problem. Therefore, your first sessions will include in-depth interviews. In addition you may be asked to complete questionnaires to further describe the difficulty. After assessment is complete, a therapist will discuss the results, and either plan treatment or suggest outside resources to assist you. As psychology clinics, we do not prescribe medicine. However, we base our treatment programs on current clinical research on the most effective ways to address specific problems. This may include coordinating treatment with your outside medical professionals. You will be actively involved in setting the specific goals and pace of treatment. Fees Fees are determined on a sliding-scale basis, according to ability to pay.
