Application Deadlines & Additional Instructions

Application Deadlines - General Admission and Graduate Appointments

Students enter the graduate program in the Fall semester only. To be given consideration for Fall 2010 admission and financial aid, the completed application (i.e., the application, letters of recommendation, transcripts, scores, statement) must be received no later than December 18, 2009.

Supplemental Instructions for Completing Graduate School On-Line Application

The application should note the following:

'DEPARTMENT,' This question asks applicants to indicate the specific subject area in which they wish to major within the Department of Psychological Sciences. The indicated program of interest is extremely important because faculty associated with the graduate program area will make all recommendations regarding student admission and graduate appointments.

In general, faculty from other areas will not see your application except in unusual circumstances. To assist students in making this determination, a description of the fields of psychology in which the department offers graduate programs is provided here.

'Degree or Enrollment Objective,' Applicants should indicate their ultimate degree objective by marking "Doctoral."

Letters of Recommendation.

Three letters of recommendation are required, and MUST be submitted via the on-line application program.  Two of the letters should come from persons qualified to evaluate the student's scholarly potential. If possible, the third should be submitted by someone qualified to describe and evaluate the student's work experience. Once you complete the recommendation portion of the application, your recommenders will automatically be sent an E-mail request for the letter of recommendation which will direct them to the recommendation form template.

Official Transcripts.

Every application requires the submission of two official transcripts from each college or university the applicant has attended. Both copies are to be sent directly to the Psychology department at the address below. When transcripts are submitted preceding the receipt of a degree, supplementary transcripts must be submitted after the degree has been received. Two copies of ALL transcripts are always required.

Notification

When the applicant's file is complete, it will be reviewed by the faculty of the appropriate area. If a fellowship is involved, the applicant is notified by March 15. Final action on all applications is completed by April 1.
