Behavioral Neuroscience - General Information

The graduate training program in Psychobiology is primarily oriented toward doctoral training. However, all students are required to complete a master's degree before continuing on for the doctorate.

A number of interdisciplinary programs exist that provide valuable training for psychobiology students. Of particular interest is the Purdue University Neurosciences Program. This program organizes regular lecture and colloquium series that bring distinguished neuroscientists to Purdue. It provides many opportunities for Purdue neuroscientists to interact productively. Students may work toward a degree which specifies their concentration in Neurosciences. Follow the link above to see more about the PUN program.

Because of this interdisciplinary program, graduate students in one department find it easy to study and work with investigators who are administratively in another department. A number of collaborative research projects have developed from these interactions. More commonly, students invite participants in these interdisciplinary groups to serve on their advisory committees and thereby benefit from their advice and criticism.
